Secretary of defense Mr. Karunasena Hettiarachchi said that all of Northern and Eastern provincial lands under the control of SL Army could not release to civil under the security matters. He said that, presently identifying the lands which can release. He said that in an occasion of releasing of lands in Jaffna area.

According to the reports, 201 acres releasing today (25) of the lands in Pesalei and Walikamam areas. As such army has planned to release more lands in next few days, he said.

He further announced that, they still could not give the figures about how many lands could not be released under the security matters. And, a compensation will provide to the owners of the lands which could not release, he said. He further noted that, 29000 acres of lands in Jaffna district had been under the Army before and most of the lands have already released.
